"Refraction" Exhibition,
Nov. 13 - Dec. 4, 2009
Reception, Nov. 14
5:30 to 8:00

Images by Mary Waring, "Canal
Distortion" & "Water Warp"
When challenged to visually define
"Refraction" PAG artists chose to interpret this esoteric word in interesting and diverse ways. Images of light bending and changing
as it bounces through mediums with different refractive indexes will delight the viewers eye.
"One interpretation is as simple as how the eye sees as light passes through it to
refract the image on the retina. What you see is what you get...or maybe not," said Mary Waring of Escondido, a participating artist.

"Art of Nature" Exhibition, October 9 - Nov. 6, 2009
Images by Beth Bruton, Will
Gibson, Steve Gould, Judith Preston, Nicole Toesca
Is it the art of Nature or Nature as
art? If you're tired of the latest blast of photo journalism, grudge,
surreal, or hyper-real clarity photos, visit The PhotoArts Group's
newest show, "Art of Nature", in the InnerSpace Gallery to see
remarkable, ephemeral images that are all around us but that we don't
notice until these 22 local artists show us what we missed.
Photo Riot

"In your face" photo exhibit
Aug. 28-Sept. 25 in Escondido
A
month-long photography exhibit that tries to get "in your face" will mark the
PhotoArts Group's first full year in its gallery space in downtown Escondido.
"Photo Riot will be a bright, bold and
exciting collection of imagery," said Sally Reis Vogt of Escondido, coordinator
of the Aug. 28-Sept. 25 show.
"
I asked participants to submit images that
were not only reflective of their best work but that were really eye catching
and 'in your face,' " Vogt said. "The result is an exhibition filled with
graphic, abstract, colorful and impactful photographs."
The PhotoArts Group has staged 10
shows at its InnerSpace Gallery since the exhibit area debuted last September
inside the Escondido Municipal Gallery, on East Grand Avenue. The venue operated
by the Escondido Arts Partnership has drawn artists and patrons from around the
region.
Pamela York, president of the
PhotoArts Group, said the upcoming exhibit is an appropriate beginning to PAG's
second year in the gallery.
"Our membership has grown over this past year,
both in number and quality, and the group has been presented with many exhibit
opportunities throughout San Diego County," "said York, who lives in La Mesa.
Other upcoming shows at
InnerSpace are "Art of Nature" Oct. 9-Nov. 6, "Refraction" Nov. 13-Dec. 4
and "Multiplicity" Dec. 11-Jan. 4, 2010.
Admission is free to the InnerSpace and Escondido Municipal galleries,
262 E. Grand Ave., at the
northwest corner of Juniper Street.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
A reception for the 14
artists participating in "Photo Riot" will be Saturday, Sept. 12 from 5:30 to 8
p.m. at the new exhibit space. The public is invited.
