Talk about herding cats...artist Cathy Carey decided to give it a try by organizing an ATC trade amongst 16 artists. Her only requirement: keep the format 3 .5 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide. The results on display span a broad range of approaches, from the fused-glass ATC by Cherrie La Porte-Cohen, to the digital art rendition from Fred Marinello. Want to join in? Take part in the ATC trade: no money involved, just leave one to take one. September 5 - October 3, 2009Reception Saturday September 12, 5:30-8 p.m.Bits and Pieces New (really, really) new paintings and 3-D work by Victoria Huckins Victoria lost nearly her entire 20-year body of work in the 2007 Witch Creek fire. She has been producing with a vengeance since thena if paint could put out fire, fire departments in North San Diego would close. Most of the pieces in this show will be on public display for the first time. October 7 - October 31, 2009Reception Saturday October 10, 5:30-8 p.m.Hard and Bright Lamp work bead sets and original jewelry by Kellene Richetts-Nguyen, mixed media accessories by Renee Richetts Bling-lovers be warned: Kellene and Renee, AKA the Richetts GRRRLs, have put their energies together to bring you some exquisite eye-candy. As part of the Escondido Municipal Gallery's monthly 2nd Saturday Art Connection program, Kellene will demonstrate the art & techniques of making lamp-work beads on Saturday the 10th . FREE and open to the public, no reservations required. Call the EMG for exact time. Renee will be teaching a workshop on paper making the low-tech way at the Escondido Municipal Gallery on Saturday Oct 24th, 12-3p.m. Reservations ARE required and space is limited. November 3 - December 23, 2009Receptions Saturday November 14 and Saturday December 12, 5:30-8 p.m.Touch This: Toys for the 22nd Century Toys imagined & created by Lisa Bebi and Renee Richetts We like robots, we like stars, we like rockets that fly to Mars! Gurus of mid-century images, steam punk art and flash-forward iconography, Bebi and Richetts made their first robot-themed 'toy' in 2008, and have been burning to produce this show ever since.
